The flat is located at the ground floor of a two-storied house placed in the Pelau valley (town of
Jerzu –
Ogliastra), at a distance of about 6 Km (4 miles) from the sea (Marina di Gairo).
The house is surrounded by the vineyards of the
Cannonau, of which Jerzu is considered to be the capital city, especially thanks to its
Wine Consortium.
Because of its location, our house is an excellent starting point to visit the Ogliastra, an island in the island, stretching from the wide beaches of
Orrì (in Tortolí),
Cea (in Bari Sardo) and of Marina di Gairo, up to the mountains chain of the Gennargentu, through the so-called
Tacchi (mountain plateaus sitting on top of vertical rock walls).
The area is rich of caves; a visit to the
Su Marmuri cave in Ulassai is highly recommended.
The house is at about half an hour drive from Arbatax (with its famous red rocks), where you can join the tours to the breathtaking coves
(Cala Goloritzé, Cala Mariolu, Cala Sisine, Cala Luna) and to the
Grotta del Bue Marino.
If you like the progressive music, then you cannot miss the
Rocce Rosse & Blues festival, which takes place every summer in Santa Maria Navarrese, at less than 1 hour drive from our place.
